We are recruiting for a Senior Associate to join our Financial Services Litigation team in London. Our market-leading Financial Services Disputes and Investigations (FSDI) team is one of the UK's largest teams in the field of financial services litigation, comprising over 150 people across Bristol, Manchester, London, Belfast and Glasgow. 

Your Role

In the role of Senior Associate, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of work for Financial Services clients, and will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Run a caseload for key financial services clients including clearing banks, private banks, building societies and/or niche lenders. 
  • Provide competent strategic and commercial legal advice across a range of disputes, including in relation to matters which are high-value, reputationally sensitive, and which can involve short-notice applications
  • You will defend reputationally sensitive claims and undertake specialist projects with our clients to help to prevent claims against them in the future.
  • Be a key point of contact for one or more strategic clients and being a trusted business advisor to clients
  • Providing quality service, supporting the client relationship and helping to secure ongoing business
  • Managing and supervising a group of solicitors and legal assistants and ensuring they hit their key performance targets
  • Developing and encouraging others through support, coaching, guidance and constructive feedback
  • Being a senior member of the FSDI team in London, and actively working with the management team to grow the team and practice areas
  • Engage, negotiate and mediate cases against other top tier litigation firms


Your Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have prior experience working at a Senior Associate level within a Financial Services Litigation role, or a Commercial Litigation role. It is also essential that you are keen to develop your career in the financial services sector, and you have a thorough understanding of the CPR and litigation process.

You will be:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered), with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with some exposure to business development, with the ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships
  • Able to develop a deep understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
  • Able to contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members


Your Team

TLT has one of the largest dedicated Financial Services Disputes practices in the UK, with partner led teams in all jurisdictions. We act for a range of financial institutions including large UK banks, international banks, challenger banks and fintechs, giving commercial and practical advice to resolve disputes.

We advise across the whole spectrum of contentious issues associated with commercial, business and consumer finance, including dispute resolution, pre-litigation management and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
