We are recruiting for a Senior Associate - Document Review to join our Document Review & Collation team in Bristol. This role is being offered on a full time basis.

Your Role

Operates within the strategic, operational and technology-enabled delivery of document review and eDiscovery within the Document Review & Collation team (part of Managed Legal Services). Supports and works with the DRC Team Leader in delivering the DRC KPI (which includes eDiscovery workstream). 

The role is responsible for shaping and growing the service, setting delivery standards, operating complex workstreams and ensuring high-quality, efficient and commercially effective outcomes across legal matters. This includes taking ownership of review strategy, scoping and sizing, resourcing, workflow design, quality frameworks, supplier relationships and the effective use of technology. 

Working across partners, clients, internal stakeholders, delivery teams and third-party platform providers, the role ensures the service is delivered through a scalable operating model that brings together the right people, process, technology and locations. This includes driving the use of tools and platforms such as Relativity, Legora, Microsoft Copilot and other legal technology or workflow solutions to transform how work is performed. There is also a requirement to understand how the DRC team integrates with dispute resolution, regulatory and data protection practices across the Firm. 

Key Outcomes & Accountabilities 

  • Document review, eDiscovery and managed review services are led across multiple complex workstreams, with delivery aligned to legal, client, commercial and operational requirements. 
  • Review strategies, workflows, coding frameworks, quality control processes and delivery methodologies are designed and maintained to ensure defensible, consistent and high-quality outputs. 
  • The service operating model is developed and improved across people, process, technology and location, ensuring the DRC function can scale effectively and support future growth. 
  • Technology is used strategically to transform delivery, including the effective use of platforms and tools such as Relativity, Legora, Microsoft Copilot, analytics, automation and other legal technology solutions. 
  • Strong relationships are built and maintained with partners, legal teams, clients, internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers, including platform providers, to support smooth delivery and effective supplier management.
  • Financial and commercial performance is managed across projects, balancing time, cost, quality, risk and client expectations to deliver commercially effective outcomes.

Functional Skills, Qualifications & Expertise

Skills & Experience  

  • Significant experience in document review, eDiscovery, DSARs, investigations, regulatory work, commercial dispute resolution, managed legal services, legal operations or comparable technology-enabled legal delivery environments. 
  • Strong expertise in eDiscovery platforms, review workflows, analytics-driven review, automation and technology-enabled legal delivery.  
  • Experience using or overseeing platforms and tools such as Relativity, Legora, Microsoft Copilot or similar legal technology / workflow solutions.  
  • Experience managing relationships with technology suppliers, platform providers or external delivery partners.  
  • Ability to design and implement delivery methodologies, coding frameworks, review protocols, escalation routes and quality frameworks.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to balance client expectations, quality, risk, time and cost. 

Qualifications  

  • Qualified Solicitor with SRA/practicing certificate, or equivalent legal qualification,  
  • Candidates with significant relevant experience in eDiscovery, managed legal services and legal operations within a traditional legal firm or ALSP (document review leadership or technology-enabled legal delivery should also be considered).  
  • The role should be open to candidates from different career paths where they can demonstrate the required delivery, technology and service transformation experience. 

Knowledge  

  • Deep understanding of document review, disclosure, privilege, redaction, confidentiality and eDiscovery workflows.  
  • Strong knowledge of the eDiscovery lifecycle, review platforms, analytics, automation and technology-enabled delivery models. 
  • Understanding of managed legal services, ALSPs and shared services.
  • Strong understanding of operating model design across people, process, technology and location.  
  • Understanding of financial management within legal project delivery, including time, cost, quality, risk and commercial performance.  
  • Awareness of emerging legal technology and how tools such as Relativity, Legora, Microsoft Copilot and supplier platforms can be used to improve delivery quality, efficiency and scalability.
