We are recruiting for an Associate (0 – 3 PQE) to join our Commercial & Regulatory team. This is a full-time, permanent position, based in London or Bristol on a hybrid basis.
This role sits within the commercial and regulatory energy sub-team, comprising two partners, a legal director, a senior associate and a trainee. The sub-team forms an integral part of the wider Future Energy sector group.
The sub-team is based in the London and Bristol offices, with the majority in London. As such a London or Bristol based location for this role would be preferred.
The successful candidate will also work closely with adjacent teams and across the wider firm, supporting clients on complex and often novel issues at the intersection of law, regulation and energy markets.
Our sub-team provides commercial and regulatory advice across the energy sector and is an integral part of the firm’s market‑leading Future Energy group.
We advise a broad range of clients, including renewable and storage developers, network operators (including TOs, DNOs and IDNOs), energy suppliers, interconnector developers and public sector bodies. We support clients across the full lifecycle of energy projects.
Our core focus is the provision of standalone commercial and advisory work in the Clean Energy sector. We also provide transactional support to our corporate and project finance teams, which offers junior lawyers early exposure to complex, high‑quality matters and close collaboration across practice areas.
The role will involve advising on a wide range of commercial and regulatory energy matters, including:
Market‑leading energy work
We advise on some of the most complex and high‑profile matters in the UK energy sector, including first‑of‑a‑kind projects and evolving regulatory frameworks
A unique Future Energy group of 180+ lawyers, working across a range of legal disciplines, who specialise in future energy and green infrastructure transactions in England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
From the outset, you will be given meaningful responsibility and exposure to clients, transactions and advisory work.
A genuinely varied practice spanning commercial, regulatory and transactional energy work, with the chance to develop a strong understanding of energy markets, regulation and project structures across a range of renewables and decarbonisation projects.
