This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Managing Associate to join our national Corporate team in a role based from our Bristol office, working with major clients across a range of transactions and sectors.

Our dynamic and award-winning Corporate practice operates as one team across our Bristol, Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London offices, covering the full UK jurisdiction.

The team has been consistently recognised as one of the leading practices in the UK and are ranked by Legal 500 as Tier 1 in Bristol. More widely, TLT was named Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2023. This marks the third year in a row the firm has taken away this accolade in industry awards - having previously been named Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards in 2021 and the British Legal Awards in 2022.

Your Role

As a Senior/Managing Associate, you will:

  • Perform at a senior level and play a lead role on transactions, which typically divide into providing strategic advice, leading negotiations of key documents and project management of the relevant transactions.
  • Work as part of a close-knit team, in which there are no rigid sub-teams with all team members having the opportunity to work with each other on a full range of M&A transactions, including corporate acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs/ins and private equity and venture capital investments.
  • Advise a range of clients from large listed and unlisted companies, PE/VC backed companies, mid-market PE investors, ambitious management teams and founder shareholders.
  • Collaborate with the senior team on our business development strategy, including profile-raising events and communications.
  • Support with the supervision and development of Paralegals, Trainees and Associates.

Your Skills & Experience

You will have/be:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered). We expect that the suitable candidate will be 5PQE+, with experience taking a lead role on deals. Ideally you will have worked for a highly regarded corporate team on complex mid-market M&A, VC and PE transactions, with relevant sector experience.
  • A forward thinker, able to demonstrate first class communication skills with the ability and confidence to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • A proven track record in business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Able to develop a deep understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client.
  • Able to contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members.

Your Team

Our Corporate team includes 16 Partners and over 50 corporate lawyers across our six UK offices. We are a thriving team that advised on over 100 deals in 2024. Our corporate lawyers have a reputation for providing technically excellent advice combined with commerciality and pragmatism. We advise on a range of complex corporate transactions and regularly support our private, listed and international corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers, governance, complex group restructurings, management buyouts, joint ventures, strategic investments and associated agreements.

In our open and collaborative culture, we encourage everyone to be their whole self, to have a voice and to contribute. You will have regular support from Partners both day to day on transactions and longer term with the development of your practice.

The growth of our corporate team has largely been built on investment in sector specialism: individuals have the opportunity to develop their sectors of expertise which align with the firm’s specialist sectors spanning Financial Services, Leisure Food and Drink, Overseas Investment, Future Energy, Retail and Consumer Goods, Digital and Real Estate.

“The Bristol TLT team is a go to for corporate work. Modern, clear and fun to work with but have the reputational weight behind them which can be important from a perception perspective. They have experience in all kinds of deals, so have experience and have seen it before.” (Legal 500, 2025)
