This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join our growing corporate team in Manchester working with major clients across a range of transactions including corporate acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs/ins and private equity and venture capital investments.

The development and growth of our corporate team has largely been built on investment in sector specialism: our lawyers are supported in developing their sector expertise to align with the firm's specialist sectors which include Financial Services, Leisure Food and Drink, Overseas Investment, Future Energy, Retail and Consumer Goods, Digital and Real Estate. 

 

Your Role 

As an Associate, you will deliver the following: 

  • Work as part of a close-knit team, in which there are no rigid sub-teams with all team members working with each other on a full range of M&A transactions, including corporate acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs/ins and private equity and venture capital investments. 
  • Advise a range of clients from large listed and unlisted companies, PE/VC backed companies, mid-market PE investors, venture capital firms, ambitious management teams and founder shareholders. 
  • Support the Partners and senior team on our business development strategy, including profile-raising events and communications. 
  • Support with the development of Paralegals and Trainees.

Through our national service lines you will work with notable clients and become a sector specialist. You will receive bespoke training throughout your career ensuring you have the technical and commercial skills to build an effective and successful practice, developing your technical and management skills. 

 

Your Skills and Experience 

You will have/be: 

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered). We expect that the suitable candidate will be 1-4 PQE, with experience gained in a highly regarded corporate team.
  • Experience working on complex mid-market M&A, VC and PE transactions is essential, relevant sector experience is highly desirable. 
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus.
  • Understand your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client.
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture.   

 

Your Team 

The TLT corporate team covers the full UK jurisdiction and advises on mid-market transactions often with a national and international profile. Our corporate lawyers have a reputation for providing technically excellent advice combined with commerciality and pragmatism. We advise on a range of complex corporate transactions and regularly support our private, listed and international corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, group restructurings, management buyouts, joint ventures, strategic investments and associated agreements. One of the largest teams in the firm’s largest practice group, we are supported by a full range of specialist transaction support lawyers including tax, anti-trust, intellectual property, commercial, commercial property, banking and finance, employment and regulatory. 

Sector specialism includes Financial Services, Leisure Food and Drink, Overseas Investment, Future Energy, Retail and Consumer Goods, Digital and Real Estate. 

We are also supported by TLT's FutureLaw team, a multi-disciplinary group of specialists, including lawyers, process designers, technologists, knowledge management experts, data analysts, product and project managers who help to provide our transaction technology and project management resources, in conjunction with our Managed Legal Services team.
