The Transformation and Operations Manager will work closely with and support the Partner, Head of Transformation and Operations.  They will be responsible for overseeing and executing various projects that aim to optimise the TLT Business Services group and allow it to deliver greater value to the wider business.   

The Transformation and Operations Manager will also work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to align the vision, goals and outcomes of the optimisation initiatives with the TLT Strategy and client needs.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transformation projects within the legal industry to include experience of project and change management, business analysis as well as a deep understanding of the legal industry, its challenges and its opportunities.

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.

Your Role

  • Work closely with Partner, Head of Transformation and Operations to plan, manage and execute a transformation strategy and roadmap that supports and aligns with the delivery of the Firm’s strategic vision and the Firm’s ongoing business operations and procedures to include the aggregate transformation and change portfolio.

 

  • Support Partner, Head of Transformation and Operations with facilitating cross-Firm collaboration by delivering and encouraging delivery of suggested functional plans and/or improvements for the Firm.
  • Helping to deliver the overall Business Services project programme to include supporting implementation of prioritised projects, identifying and working with Partner, Head of Transformation and Operation to unlock barriers and engaging with colleagues across Business Services, MLS and FutureLaw to support delivery, collaboration and transparency.
  • Facilitate an optimisation programme across Business Services teams to include working with project managers, business analysts and change managers to identify, analyse, recommend and deliver recommended operational efficiency improvements across the teams.
  • Support Partner, Head of Transformation and Operations to ensure all necessary business processes and governance structures are defined, documented, implemented and managed in a robust manner enabling flexibility, collaboration, transparency and operational efficiency

 

  • Work with senior leaders across the TLT Business Services Group to identify and encourage implementation of optimisation recommendations on a rolling programme and help foster a culture of continuous improvement across the Business Services function and into the wider Firm.

 

  • Monitor, evaluate and report to Partner, Head of Transformation and Operations on performance and outcomes of optimisation and transformation initiatives and provide recommendations for further improvements and optimisations.

 

  • Support Partner, Head of Transformation and Operations with optimising existing guidelines around acceptance of client instructions, in particular providing delivery and implementation support to FL and MLS leads on large projects and significant new client tenders to include supporting implementation of agreed proactive resource management (people and technology) and set-up principles and engaging with stakeholders to encourage use. 
  • Champion and actively encourage optimisation and implementation of technology, legal technology and alternate resourcing models for clients and across the Firm to include engaging with and supporting engagement between legal teams and Business Services.

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • The ability to review and challenge existing ways of working with the energy and resilience to drive projects and change management through to completion.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful transformation outcomes, demonstrating strong leadership, communication, collaboration and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding and experience of working within legal (or professional services delivery teams) and business services teams to include IT, finance and PMO.  Ideally with a legal background to include experience of delivering legal services.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships quickly with strong influencing and communication skills
  • Experienced in re-engineering working practices and necessary cultural change
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment
  • Experienced in working in and with multi-function virtual teams
  • Experience of managing and delivering projects
  • Familiarity with legal (and other) technology solutions and their integration into law firm workflows.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity with a deep understanding of the legal industry and its trends, challenges and opportunities as well as an understanding of legal ethics and confidentiality.
  • Results driven individual able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and to manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.
