We are recruiting for an Associate to join our Real Estate - Future Energy team in Scotland.

This is an opportunity to join our rapidly expanding Future Energy Real Estate practice at TLT, covering all aspects of real estate advice related to clean energy development. 

The successful candidate can be based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh on a hybrid basis. Although this role is ideally a full-time position, we are open to part time applicants (4 days a week).

Your Role

This is a great platform for a junior lawyer to get involved in all aspects of a vast array of transactions and gain significant experience, with the benefit of the support available from a number of senior team members.

Day to day you can expect to be involved with:

  • Dealing with drafting option agreements and leases on a wide range of clean energy projects (including wind, solar, battery storage, electric vehicles, and hydro)
  • Undertaking due diligence on these projects to include a review of title, enquiries, and searches as well as the preparation of title reports and Certificates of Title
  • Acting in relation to the financing of clean energy projects and large-scale acquisitions/disposals which will involve working with individuals in our corporate, banking, construction, planning and regulatory disciplines
  • Maintaining and improving relations with existing clients


Your Skills and Experience

You will be/have:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered) circa 1-3PQE within Real Estate. It is essential that you have prior experience of dealing with Clean/Future energy matters, within Real Estate transactions.
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus
  • An understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture.  Real Estate experience is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills - high volume of interaction via the telephone.
  • A desire to learn and develop legal skills in the area of commercial property/renewable energy, what TLT does and what our clients do/how they work.
