We are currently recruiting for a Senior/Managing Associate to join our recently established Birmingham based Employment team. This is a flexible working opportunity and would best suit a qualified Solicitor 4+ year's PQE with a background spanning contentious and non-contentious employment work and, ideally, experience of working with large or medium sized employer / respondent clients.

 

Your Role

As a member of a relatively new office of an award-winning national law firm, you will join an established and highly regarded large and national employment group.  Whilst the role is Birmingham based, with the successful appointment supporting the early growth and development of the location, the employment team operates nationally and therefore you can expect to support with national client work and initiatives. 

You will be a key early hire who is well placed to quickly assume a varied workload and establish networks and relationships inside and outside of the firm.  There will also be opportunity for you to play an important role in supporting the development and growth of our offering in Birmingham.  You can expect to be involved with:

  • Advising on a broad range of employment matters spanning contentious and non-contentious work
  • Taking an active involvement in the recruitment, supervision and development of junior team members
  • Supporting the longer-term development, reputation enhancement and growth of our Birmingham based Employment team
  • Working closely with our Partners across our national Employment group, but especially the recently appointed Birmingham based Employment Partner (an established presence in the local market and top tier ranked in the legal directories) to foster, manage and develop client relationships and support the future growth of the team

 

Your Skills & Experience

We are looking for:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered), with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercial awareness with some exposure to business development, with the ability to foster, maintain and nurture strong client relationships
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client 
  • Contribution to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members
