We are recruiting for a Legal Technologist to join our FutureLaw team in Bristol. 

 

Your Role 

You can expect to: 

  • Work with the rest of the FutureLaw team to inquire, experiment, deliver, promote and champion transformation within the firm and with our clients; 
  • Anticipate the needs of our clients and originate new ideas for the use of legal technology and productise and develop legal tech solutions both within the firm and with clients 
  • Use design thinking or similar innovation techniques to identify client requirements, needs and pain points for new legal products and services and improving legal processes by employing legal technology; 
  • Evaluate the benefits of different types of legal technology, the providers of that technology and assist in the identification and development of ROI assessments based on a good understanding of commercial terms and requirements 
  • Design, configure, price and/or develop prototypes, run proof of concepts and undertake final builds of new FutureLaw legal technology, services and solutions (with support from the wider FutureLaw team as required) 
  • Understand principle legal tech products and capabilities, how they each meet client requirements and how they can be used, particularly for multi-point solutions or with other point solutions. 
  • Provide advice and guidance to FutureLaw colleagues and throughout the firm on appropriate technology to help improve processes, identify and capture data and to improve the client experience; 
  • Assist in the integration, configuration and further customisation of new and existing solutions to include engaging with IT and InfoSec functions; 
  • Manage, update and implement the FutureLaw tech stack to include the contract review helptext and worksheets 
  • Assist in the management of the FutureLaw Legal Tech programme to include assisting with the introduction, design, implementation, support and embedding of new and existing legal technologies within FutureLaw, the wider firm and with clients and undertaking continual improvement and evaluation of the FutureLaw stack. 
  • Promote the benefit of legal technology to the rest of the FutureLaw team and colleagues across the firm; 
  • Design, configure and implement no /low code legal technology prototypes and products; 
  • Assist in the management of day to day relationships with legal tech vendors to include liaising with vendors on demos, design and implementation of trials, pilots, proofs of concept and final roll out; ; 
  • Educate and raise awareness with internal and external clients on FutureLaw products and services and the value they deliver. 
  • Train users and provide presentations and demos of FutureLaw legal technology products and be a super user and trainer for the FutureLaw Legal Tech stack. 
  • Provide know-how on legal technology, the legal market and technology trends and solutions and undertake networking with clients, affiliates and members of the legal tech community 
  • Undertake stakeholder and client management and engagement with a view to developing and cultivating relationships with stakeholders and internal and external clients. 
  • Be engaged with and working directly with clients to include assessing and identifying their needs, running workshops and sandbox events and setting up and running outsourcing projects for clients based on legal tech (with support from the LPM team as required).   
  • Work with clients to scope, map and design appropriate solutions for clients to include the integration and implementation of legal technology (with support from the LPM team as required) and production of playbooks. 
  • Assisting partners and other colleagues in bids for and delivery of work where legal technology is required for successful legal service delivery 
  • Be an advocate for TLT FutureLaw inside and outside the firm  

 

Your Skills and Experience  

  • A creative, experimental approach to problem solving with an ability to manage critical issues quickly and effectively 
  • Be an early adopter and advocate of legal technology, developments and innovations; 
  • Broad understanding of LegalTech and the digital technology market to include (but not limited to) latest developments in SaaS, digital security, data storage and transfer, data extraction tools, structured and unstructured data, eDiscovery, Contract Review and Contract Lifecycle Management, AI supported legal tech and tech, Robotic Process Automation, Document automation, eSignature etc to include with required knowledge of Excel, Miro, Kira, LegalSifter, Relativity, DocuSign and HighQ (or similar).  
  • Broad understanding of solution architecture and its application to the legal sector. 
  • Ideally some understanding and experience of a coding language. 
  • Passionate role model for technology and its application to the legal sector and legal issues; 
  • Some experience in design thinking or similar innovation techniques and methodology; 
  • Have an understanding of how to repurpose technology to solve pain points with a particular focus on what mainstream technology can do to include within the Microsoft Stack. 
  • Experience in document extraction, process automation and document review and knowledge of all of the FutureLaw tech stack, including AI-powered document review, e-signature, collaboration platform and data extraction applications with the ability to provide support for and train others to use each element.  
  • Basic project management skills including an understanding of how to interpret the client's business needs and translate them into business/operational requirements. 
  • Experience of design, development and use of legal and commercial playbooks. 
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage and work collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the business at all levels and across fee earning teams and business services, with the ability to be flexible in approach as required 
  • Will be legally trained with practical legal experience of legal processes and challenges with particular focus experience in commercial law / corporate law / property law / in-house experience desired.   
  • Ability to support on delivering and embedding Legal and other Tech into a firm with particularly focus on change management methodologies 
  • Keen team player with the ability to self-start and engage with a varied cross section of fee earners across the business. 
  • A client focused approach to the delivery of legal technology and project planning 
  • Comfortable working in an environment of uncertainty and constant change. 
  • Tenacious, driven individual who can be flexible as the needs of the role and/or audience change and is skilled at working collaboratively and with a keen attention to detail.
