We are recruiting for a Senior to Managing Associate to join our Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team (PIC) based in Bristol or Manchester but open to flexible working.

PIC has expertise across various sectors, including energy (solar, wind, nuclear etc.), utilities, civil and other heavy engineering, real estate development and infrastructure. We also benefit from a broad client base, which includes real estate developers, energy and utilities companies, contractors, large sub-contractors and various significant public sector organisations.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced lawyer who has worked in one or more of the team’s key core areas of infrastructure, projects and construction.  The team undertakes contentious and non-contentious work and we are open to hearing from ambitious, creative lawyers who are interested in working with our diverse and impressive client base.  We have room for those looking to specialise and those who have already developed a specialism in our areas of work.

PIC has enjoyed significant growth and investment, making it an exciting and rewarding team to be a part of. The national Legal 500 team (with a presence in Bristol, Manchester, London and Glasgow) comprises approximately 30 people including support and lawyers across all levels of seniority.  Six of the team are partners.

The team maintains a strong and progressive team ethos across our national offices, which encourages collaboration, as well as respect for individuals and their ambition.   There is genuine opportunity for lawyers of mid to senior level to progress rapidly within the team and be part of its continued success.

Your Role

You will have the opportunity to lead client work on complex contracts with appropriate levels of partner support and a good level of enthusiastic junior and collegiate support from associates and senior associates, trainees and paralegals.  We will provide such development support as you require and allow you to develop knowledge in the areas in which you wish to specialise as you develop your career and hone your business skills.

As a Senior member of the team you will encouraged to build excellent relationships with corporate clients across our client base which includes central government departments, infrastructure investors and operators, global manufacturers, retailers, national and regional contractors and developers. You will also support on tenders and public sector contracts, as we work very closely with the government on a wider range of high-visibility projects.

In summary, as a Senior or Managing Associate in PIC you will

  • Work for high calibre clients on, and lead on matters;
  • Build relationships with new and existing clients;
  • Develop expertise within one or more of the sector’s that PIC operates in
  • Supervise Associates, Paralegals and Trainees, to support them in their development;
  • Contribute to team strategic planning and business development activities.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be/have:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered or equivalent), with the ability to work autonomously with minimal  supervision.
  • 3 years or more working in one or more of our sectors and well versed in dealing with standard industry forms with expertise in contentious, non-contentious and/or projects related matters
  • A creative, forward thinker, with proven analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • A client focussed approach with the ability to nurture long standing relationships
  • Proven experience of supervising and/or managing junior team members
  • The drive and ambition to succeed as a key senior component of the team at TLT, with the commitment to developing the firm’s offering locally and nationally and sharing our people focused values
