We are looking for a Senior Associate to join the TLT Corporate Renewables team in London. This opportunity will enable you to develop your renewables M&A experience, alongside support the wider corporate team on general M&A, private equity, and venture capital matters. 

Renewables is a key sector for TLT and is supported across a variety of service lines. The TLT Corporate Renewables team is consistently ranked by Clean Energy Pipeline and Inspiratia in the top 10 clean energy M&A teams globally by deal volume.

Our dynamic legal 500 ranked national corporate team operates across our Bristol, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London offices, covering the full UK jurisdiction. The team have been recently been shortlisted for a suite of awards at Insider’s South West Dealmakers Awards 2023 and the North West Rainmaker’s Awards 2023, following their 2022 success at the Go:Tech awards, in which they won Tech Dealmaker of the year. The Experian league table also confirmed our corporate team as the 2nd most active legal adviser in the Southwest, for the volume of deals completed in 2022.

Your Role

Day to day you will:

  • Work as part of a close knit, highly flexible team, in which there are no rigid sub-teams with all team members working with and supporting each other on a range of transactions and on general company law compliance
  • Support other senior members of the team on the larger, more complex transactions
  • Work for a wide variety of renewable clients and will have exposure to a variety of technologies such as wind, solar, battery, AD, hydro, WtE and EVCI amongst others
  • Manage a wide range of transactions, including advising on disposals and acquisitions, joint ventures and co-operation agreements and profit share agreements
  • Draft and negotiate concepts and arrangements that are complicated, unusual or that may not have been seen in the market before whilst having the full support of both the Corporate Renewables team and the wider Clean Energy team where necessary
  • Report into Kay Hobbs, who heads the TLT Corporate Renewables team, which sits within the larger TLT Clean Energy team headed by Maria Connolly.

 

Your Skills and Experience

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered), circa 5PQE+, with experience in handling clean energy M&A deals. Ideally you will have worked for a highly regarded corporate team on complex national and international mid-market M&A, VC and PE transactions, with clean energy sector experience.
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus
  • Able to understand your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture
