We, TLT are searching for Contract Senior Paralegals or Junior Contract Lawyers who will act as section leads, supervising a team of paralegals with experience in document review or handling a litigious caseload. The role will be on an initial 3–6 month contract but with likelihood of extension or being redeployed onto other projects, within the firm. This role is offering support on a high-profile review exercise within our Financial Services and Disputes team, where you will be supervised by our Managed Legal Services Team. We are offering remote working on this contract however, living near one of our offices would be preferable.

Please note, this role is on a day rate, contracted via an Umbrella company.

Your Role

  • Conduct second line review / quality assurance on the relevancy coding and redactions made by the initial review team 
  • Feedback trends and identify training gaps or process improvements  
  • Maintain QC outcomes that do not exceed 5% fail on 2LoD QA review

Management of Work 

  • Actively manage work levels, quality and resources within their Section. 
  • Actively monitor Section MI, identify patterns/trends and discuss findings with Project Manager / Legal Lead and MLS Operations Manager  
  • Routinely monitoring working methods alongside MLS Operations Manager to identify inefficiencies and areas of risk. Taking steps to escalate (considering relevance and impact on wider team). 
  • Holding regular team meetings ensuring that the team are kept informed of relevant developments and their team's progress and performance. 
  • Using various management tools and methods, managing work quality, policy compliance and standards, including MI.  

Development of Others 

  • Ensuring supervision meetings and appraisals are conducted. Working with MLS Operations Manager and HR to actively manage and improve staff related issues, e.g. poor performance, sickness, absence levels.  
  • Support the Operations manager to develop talent within the team by identifying individual potential.  
  • Supporting team members in achieving agreed objectives through delegation, coaching, mentoring and training. 
  • Actively promoting the TLT Way and the MLS Charter. 

Management Responsibility 

  • Meeting regularly with the Operations Manager, to discuss team performance. 
  • Attending and contributing to management meetings by representing any trends and interests emerging from your Section.  
  • Supporting team with technical and day-to-day queries 
  • Supporting other Team Managers and colleagues 
  • Any other duties as required to ensure that the team achieves its objectives  

 

Other Responsibilities  

  • Support the MLS Operations Manager with the training and induction of new starters  
  • Take ownership of knowledge management and query log and escalate any queries that require further review.  

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Ideally 12 months experience working as a paralegal with some prior supervisory experience preferrable.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)   
  • Accuracy, good organisational skills and flexibility  
  • Good knowledge of Word and Outlook is required and experience in Excel, PowerPoint, interwoven would be beneficial 
  • Desirable, but not essential, are proficient Excel skills (with basic and vlookup formulas, pivot tables, pivot charts & managing large spreadsheets) and the ability to export data to other spreadsheets and charts efficiently, whilst also being able to put together easy-to-read analysis 
  • To have basic knowledge of and be able to use common functions of relevant computer applications with appropriate training
