TLT is a leading adviser to the financial services industry. The firm acts for the largest UK banks and other leading firms. We are now looking to grow our Financial Services Regulatory team and we are keen to hear from Associates Senior Associates with 1-4 years PQE who want to join a team to work with leading experts.
The successful candidate would have the opportunity to be part of a growing and ambitious team, with excellent prospects for career advancement, in a supportive and exciting environment. You can enjoy flexible working arrangements and can be based out of any of our UK offices.
You would join the Financial Services Regulatory team. We are looking for lawyers who particularly want to specialise in retail financial services (consumer credit, mortgages, retail banking and payments regulation). The team already has a very strong reputation in the retail financial services sector and advises banks, building societies and specialist lenders on the complete range of regulatory matters affecting their business. The team is ranked in Chambers and Partners for Consumer Finance.
In addition to this core focus, the team has a growing and wider financial regulation practice. This practice covers wealth and asset management, and funds and funds management.
You can expect to work for leading financial services firms on their strategically important matters. You will have the support of a specialist team, but will take on interesting work supporting on these sorts of areas:
In addition to the technical work on matters, you will also take part in training clients and speaking at conferences and client events on regulatory developments. You will also take an active role in business development.
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have had some technical financial regulation experience, and you will have a real interest in the area. You may have gained this experience working in private practice, in house, through academic study, working for a regulator or in a compliance or public affairs role. Ideally you will be a qualified lawyer, but we would consider compliance professionals who have good knowledge of technical regulations.
Ideally, you will have had some exposure to working on retail financial services and payments regulation, but you do not need experience of all the technical areas. You might also have had a more general regulatory role but are looking to specialise in the retail or payments sector.
It is also essential that you have a real and genuine interest in financial regulation and in particular the retail financial services sector. You will be given support to develop technically, but you also need a strong self learning approach to your development.
You do not need to have previous experience of business development activities, but you will need to have strong relationship building skills, enjoy thinking outside the box and want to go the extra mile for your clients. You will need to have a “can do” approach to your role and embrace challenges with energy.
