The successful applicant will also have plenty of opportunities to work on contentious matters with key clients, collaborating with Claire Graham and Jon Hainey, who lead the vibrant insolvency litigation practice.

Alastair and the team have created a strong and sustainable platform for winning and resourcing high quality, mid-market corporate restructuring work in Manchester on a repeat basis from private equity funds, corporates, banks, insolvency practitioners and turnaround professionals.  They have also played a number of key roles on restructurings of national significance.

  • Able to manage challenging transactional and advisory corporate restructuring work
  • Prior qualified legal experience in a similar legal setting with a non-contentious or mixed caseload background
  • Able to contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with some exposure to business development, with the ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships
  • Develop a deep understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client

Your Team

The Manchester Restructuring and Insolvency team has enjoyed significant year-on-year growth.  Since Alastair joined in 2014 the practice has expanded considerably, to one that is now ranked in the top 5 R&I practices in the North West (Band 2 L500).

Alastair’s non-contentious restructuring practice works closely alongside the insolvency litigation practice, to provide the complete package to clients. The feedback and comments on the team from clients is phenomenal (see latest L500 quotes, for example).

The wider R&I team operates from offices across the UK, providing tactical, commercially minded services across all aspects of financing. We act for a broad range of debt funders and have positions on the general lending panels of nearly all the high street lenders. In addition, we act for a wide spectrum of corporate borrowers in all of our key sectors in the investment and non-investment grade spaces.

We provide clear commercial advice on all areas of restructuring and insolvency law. With broad and deep expertise in restructuring and insolvency and a specialism in the acquisition and disposal of debt portfolios, we act for everyone from corporates and their boards to banks and government agencies. From large restructuring, workouts and formal insolvencies, to acting for individual creditors and assisting stakeholders, we’re ready when clients need us.
