We are recruiting for a Paralegal to join our Financial Services Investigations and Contentious Regulatory team in Manchester.

Our team is one of the UK's fastest growing teams in the field of financial services investigations and contentious regulatory. We are rated by Chambers as being in the top tier of firms outside of London advising in this area. The range and quality of the work we do is exceptional. 

We advise on a variety of contentious matters including internal and enforcement investigations, section166 and thematic reviews, PBRs, remediation programmes and audits.  We advise on a variety of issues including governance, systems and controls, non-financial misconduct, culture, operational resilience, cyber security incidents, AML and ABC, mis-selling, financial promotions, the treatment of customers, accountability and regulatory reporting.

We have a strong and diverse client base which includes the UK's major clearing banks, building societies, private and wealth banks, digital banks, international banks, payment service providers and fixed charge receivers.

Your Role

As a Paralegal you will be responsible for the following:

  • Supporting a large cross-discipline group across the UK.
  • Working on a varied case load - primarily focussed on FS investigations and contentious regulatory work but will also support broader litigation as necessary.
  • Assist Partners, Managing Associates, Senior Associates and Associates on complex matters.
  • Investigating and analysing complex legal and regulatory issues and preparing draft advice and reports.
  • Reviewing discovery documents.
  • Managing key dates.
  • Assisting with recording, reporting on and analysing Management Information.
  • Assisting with billing.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written). 
  • Accuracy, good organisational skills and flexibility.
  • Good knowledge of Word and Outlook is required and experience in Excel, PowerPoint, interwoven would be beneficial.
  • Desirable, but not essential, are proficient Excel skills (with basic and vlookup formulas, pivot tables, pivot charts & managing large spreadsheets) and the ability to export data to other spreadsheets and charts efficiently, whilst also being able to put together easy-to-read analysis.
  • Experience in FS investigations/ contentious regulatory or FS litigation (desirable, not essential).
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture.
