Role Overview

We are seeking a Contract Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join our Risk & Compliance team. This role focuses on reviewing and advising on client contracts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, firm policies, and risk management standards.

This role will be on an initial 3-6 month contract but is likely to extend. This will be a hybrid role with potential to attend the clients offices in Bristol so being located in this proximity is preferred and you will be working via an Umbrella company. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review client engagement terms, supplier agreements, and other commercial contracts for compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks, ensuring alignment with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on contractual risk issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, including data protection, anti-money laundering, and professional conduct rules.
  • Collaborate with partners, fee earners, and business services teams to resolve contractual queries.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent with experience in commercial contracts.
  • Strong understanding of risk and compliance frameworks within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in reviewing client engagement letters and supplier agreements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting law firms (e.g., SRA Standards & Regulations).
