This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with up to five years' post-qualification experience to join our Document Review and Collation (DRC) team in a substantive, client-facing role with real scope for career development.

The DRC team provides multi-disciplinary expertise and scalable legal resource to support all TLT legal groups when delivering large-scale projects and legal managed services for our clients. The team is made up of qualified Solicitors and Paralegals who support both contentious and non-contentious fee earners from across the firm, working predominantly on data subject access requests (DSARs) and document review and disclosure exercises.

We work across a wide range of matters - from short, focused tasks to extended project-based engagements requiring a dedicated team over several months. As the team continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Solicitor to join us, take ownership of key workflows, and develop their career within a specialist legal operations environment.

This is not simply a document review role. You will be involved in advising internal client teams, managing discrete workstreams, and (where appropriate to your experience) providing guidance and support to the Paralegals and apprentices working alongside you.

Our core DRC team is based in our Bristol office. We will also consider candidates based in our Manchester office. We offer flexible hybrid working, with 50% office attendance required for this role.

Role Responsibilities

You will work across a number of different practice groups, sectors and specialisms, with the majority of your work falling within the following areas:

DSAR and Data Protection

  • Managing and progressing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) from initial receipt through to final response, ensuring quality and consistency throughout
  • Conducting quality control review of documents to a high standard, with particular focus on DSAR matters
  • Serving as a point of contact for internal client teams on DSAR process queries and risk appetite
  • Maintaining and applying a solid working knowledge of data protection principles, including the definition of personal data and its practical application in a DSAR context
  • Contributing to the training of team members on foundational data protection concepts

Document Review and eDiscovery

  • Taking a hands-on role across relevant stages of the eDiscovery lifecycle, which may include platform setup, workflow management, quality control and the conduct of document review
  • Overseeing document review projects from pre-engagement setup through to project close, where your experience allows
  • Managing review workflows to ensure review rates are maintained in line with relevant deadlines
  • Providing eDiscovery consultancy support to internal and external clients as required

Project and Team Support

  • Acting as a liaison between project teams and client teams, communicating updates and reporting findings clearly and professionally
  • Supporting senior team members on workflows outside of eDiscovery and document review as business needs require
  • Where appropriate to your experience, providing day-to-day guidance and support to Paralegals and Graduate Solicitor Apprentices working on your matters

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • A Qualified Solicitor 1–5 years' PQE
  • Experience working on data subject access requests, with a working knowledge of the end-to-end DSAR process
  • A solid understanding of data protection principles and their practical application
  • Experience using Relativity or a comparable document review platform
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external clients
  • Strong self-management skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently to meet deadlines
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • A practical, creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to manage issues quickly and effectively

Desirable

  • Experience overseeing or contributing to document review projects in a disclosure, regulatory or litigation context
  • A working knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and the ability to apply it practically across the eDiscovery lifecycle
  • Familiarity with Relativity or other review platforms used in the eDiscovery and DSAR context (including any AI-assisted review tools)
  • Experience working within a managed legal services or legal process outsourcing environment
  • Exposure to document redaction, privilege review or trial bundle preparation
  • Experience providing guidance or informal supervision to junior colleagues, Paralegals or Trainees
  • Previous experience engaging with Graduate Solicitor Apprentices or Trainees in a structured programme

Why Join Us?

The DRC team is one of TLT's genuine success stories. We have a cadre of highly capable and committed Paralegals and Solicitors who consistently deliver high-quality work and represent TLT professionally in all client dealings. Our DSAR function in particular is widely regarded as a centre of excellence within the firm, and growing client demand for eDiscovery support presents a real and exciting commercial opportunity for the team.

For a Solicitor joining at this stage of their career, the DRC team offers something that is genuinely difficult to find: the breadth of a Managed Legal Services environment — exposure to Disclosure, Investigations, Due Diligence and Data Privacy work — combined with the collegiate support structure of a top-30 UK law firm.

We are committed to the professional development of all team members. We are developing a structured progression framework setting out the competency and performance criteria required to progress at each level, and sustained high performance is recognised and rewarded. There is a real opportunity to grow with the team as it expands its client-facing offering and develops new service lines.
